What changes from JPG to BMP

QualityNo further loss: BMP keeps every pixel as it looks now
Camera details and locationLeft out: the BMP is saved without them
File sizeUsually larger: BMP compresses less tightly than JPG

When to use BMP: Older Windows software, simple paint programs and tools that expect raw, uncompressed pixels.

The two formats

.jpg · .jpeg

JPEG photoJoint Photographic Experts Group

The common photo format since the early 1990s, named after the committee that designed it. Lossy compression makes files much smaller by discarding detail the eye notices least.

Photographs for the web, email and cameras, where small files matter more than perfect detail.

Questions

How do I convert JPG to BMP?

Drop your JPG file on this page, or choose it. Anyfile converts it on your device in a moment and the BMP downloads straight away. To change it first, open it in the photo editor.

Is my JPG file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and converted by your own browser, and nothing is sent to a server. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, go to Network, and convert a file. No upload appears.

Is my location removed?

Yes: the BMP is saved without camera details, so the location isn’t in it.

Can I convert several JPG files at once?

Yes. Drop them together and you get one ZIP with every BMP inside.
