Anyfile

Privacy Policy

Effective 20 October 2026

Anyfile is built so that your files stay yours. They’re opened, edited and saved inside your browser, on your device. This policy explains, in plain words, the little that Anyfile does collect, and everything it doesn’t.

  • Your files never leave your device.Anyfile has no server that receives them. Nothing you open, edit or create is uploaded, stored or seen by us.

  • No accounts, no cookies, no tracking. There’s nothing to sign up for. Visitors get no cookies, no advertising and no analytics trackers, and we don’t follow you across sites.

  • Only anonymous totals.Anyfile counts how often each kind of file is opened, created and saved, and which formats people ask for. These are totals for everyone, never linked to you.

Who we are

Anyfile (“Anyfile”, “we”, “us”) is a browser-based file editor made and operated by Pranav Goswami. This policy covers the Anyfile website and the editors in it (together, the “Service”).

Your files

When you open a file in Anyfile, your browser reads it on your device. Every editor works in your browser: changes, previews, conversions, compression and new files are all made locally, and a download is created on your device. This includes files edited inside another editor (for example, a contact’s photo opened in the Images editor).

We never receive, upload, store or inspect the contents of your files, their names or anything inside them. When you close a file, it’s gone from Anyfile; only what you choose to download is kept, on your device.

What we collect

Anonymous usage totals

When a file is opened, created with New file, or saved in an editor, your browser tells Anyfile which editor was used, what kind of file it was (for example “.psd”), and whether it was opened, created or saved. We add one to a running total for that editor and format, for all time, for the month and for the day. Nothing else is sent, and the totals can’t be traced back to a person, a device or a file.

Format requests

If you ask for a format with “Missing a format?”, we receive only the extension or app name you submit (for example “.key”) and add one to its total. We don’t ask for, or receive, your name or email address.

Abuse prevention

To stop automated abuse of the counters and requests, our server briefly derives a code from your network address, mixed with a secret and the date, and counts how many requests that code has made. The code can’t be turned back into your address, it is never stored with any other information, and it’s deleted automatically within an hour. Your address itself is not stored by Anyfile.

Hosting logs

Like every website, Anyfile is delivered by a hosting provider (Vercel), whose systems process technical information such as network addresses, browser type and request times to deliver and protect the Service. We don’t use this information to identify or profile you.

What we don’t collect

  • The contents, names or details of your files.
  • Your name, email address, phone number or any account details. There are no accounts.
  • Your location, contacts, photos or anything else on your device.
  • Cookies, advertising identifiers, fingerprints, or tracking across websites.

We don’t sell, rent or share personal information, and we don’t show advertising.

What’s stored on your device

Visitors get no cookies. If you request a format, your browser remembers which formats you’ve requested for that tab only (in session storage), so you don’t send the same request twice. It’s cleared when the tab closes. The site’s owner has one strictly necessary cookie to sign in to the site’s private admin page; it’s never set for anyone else.

Service providers

We use Vercel to host the Service, and Upstash to store the anonymous totals described above. They process information only to provide their services to us. Because these providers operate internationally, technical information may be processed outside your country.

How long we keep things

Anonymous totals and format request totals are kept for as long as the Service runs, because they hold no personal information. Abuse-prevention codes are deleted within an hour. Hosting logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own policies.

Your choices and rights

Because Anyfile doesn’t keep personal information about you, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can still contact us with any privacy question or request, and we’ll answer it. You can also block requests to Anyfile’s counters in your browser; every editor keeps working.

Children

Anyfile isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Security

The Service is served only over HTTPS, with a strict content security policy that stops pages from loading code or sending data to other websites. Files are processed in your browser and never transmitted to us. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we design Anyfile to keep as little as possible.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update it on this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll make it clear on the site.
