About

About Anyfile.

Anyfile opens, edits and converts 202 kinds of files right in your browser. It’s free, there’s nothing to install, and your files never leave your device.

Why it exists

A contract that needs one more line. A photo your laptop won’t open. A video that’s too big to send. Most of the time the answer is to install an app you’ll use once, start a free trial, or upload a private file to a stranger’s server and hope it’s deleted.

Anyfile is the other way. Open the page, drop the file in, make the change or turn it into the format you need, and download it. The work happens on your own device, so there’s nothing to wait for and nothing to trust.

It’s designed and built by Pranav Goswami, and was first released in October 2026. It’s in beta: it already does a lot, it grows every few weeks, and some things won’t be perfect yet.

What Anyfile stands for

  • Your files stay on your device. They’re opened, edited and converted inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on a server, and nobody sees your files, not even us. You can check it yourself in your browser’s developer tools.
  • An editor made for each kind of file. A photo, a spreadsheet and a 3D model need different tools, so each kind of file gets an editor built for it, rather than one viewer that does a little of everything.
  • Only formats that pass their tests. A format is switched on only once it passes its tests: it opens, edits, saves and opens again. Today that’s 202 of them. Before you start, you know what you can change and what will be kept, and when something can’t make the trip to another format, Anyfile says exactly what changed.
  • Nothing to install. It runs in any current browser on a computer, tablet or phone. If you like, install it from your browser and it shows up in your computer’s “Open with” menu, and the editors you’ve used keep working offline.
  • Free for everyone. No ads, no subscriptions, no paywalls and no account. Donations help, and everything stays free whether you give or not.

What’s next

224 more kinds of files are on the list, each switched on only once it works from the first click to the last download. The next editors are E-books & comics, vector graphics, maps & GPS, email files, MIDI & sheet music and UI design files. The formats people ask for most move up the list.

Questions

Is Anyfile really free?

Yes. Every editor and every conversion is free, with no limits, watermarks or sign-up. It’s paid for by optional donations.

Who can see my files?

Nobody. They never leave your device: Anyfile reads them in your browser and hands the result back as a download.

How do I ask for a format?

Type it into “Missing a format?” on the home page. No name or email is needed; the formats people ask for most come next.

How do I report a problem?

Use Send feedback on any page. You can add a screenshot. Every message is read, even though we can’t reply to each one.
