What changes from CUR to BMP

QualityNothing lost: BMP keeps every pixel
TransparencyTransparent areas are filled with white
Colour depthSaved at 8 bits per channel
File sizeUsually larger: BMP compresses less tightly than CUR

When to use BMP: Older Windows software, simple paint programs and tools that expect raw, uncompressed pixels.

The two formats

.cur

About CUR files

.bmp

BMP imageWindows Bitmap

Microsoft’s bitmap format from the early days of Windows. It usually stores pixels uncompressed, so quality is exact but files are large.

Older Windows software, simple paint programs and tools that expect raw, uncompressed pixels.

Questions

How do I convert CUR to BMP?

Drop your CUR file on this page, or choose it. Anyfile converts it on your device in a moment and the BMP downloads straight away. To change it first, open it in the photo editor.

Is my CUR file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and converted by your own browser, and nothing is sent to a server. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, go to Network, and convert a file. No upload appears.

What happens to transparent areas?

BMP can’t hold transparency, so they’re filled with white.

Can I convert several CUR files at once?

Yes. Drop them together and you get one ZIP with every BMP inside.
