Free alternative
A free ezyZip alternative
A web app from WebbyAppy OÜ that creates, extracts and converts archives such as ZIP, RAR and 7Z, and converts images, audio and video, running in the browser. Anyfile is a free alternative for many of the same jobs: it opens, edits and converts files in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
ezyZip and Anyfile, side by side
| ezyZip | Anyfile | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | The web tools are free, with ads. ezyZip Pro is optional and comes as a monthly plan, a yearly plan or a one-time lifetime plan; it removes ads, lifts file size limits and adds six desktop apps. The pricing page loads its amounts by script and they were not in the page text when checked. Its terms say all sales are final, with no refunds. Source | Free, funded by optional donations |
| Free version | Yes. ezyZip says its web tools are available for free (with ads), and that you can test the core functionality before buying Pro. Source | Everything is free |
| Free limits | The comparison table on its unzip page lists a 2GB file size limit for ezyZip, and the page describes Pro as extracting archives of any size with no file size limits and no ads. Source | No daily limits; size limits per kind of file (for example 100 MB pictures, 300 MB PDFs) |
| Are files uploaded? | No, according to ezyZip: it says files are processed locally in your browser, with no file data sent to a server, and suggests turning off your Wi-Fi during extraction to check that it still works. Source | No: files are opened and converted in your browser |
| How long files are kept | ezyZip says that when you open or save files with Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox, they travel directly between your browser and that service and never pass through its servers. If something goes wrong, its error reporting may record a file’s name and size; the file itself is never uploaded to it. Source | Never stored: nothing is uploaded |
| Account needed | Not for the free tools: ezyZip’s extract page says “No software, no signups, no upload”, and its comparison table lists registration as “Never”. Source | No |
| Ads | Yes on the free web tools: ezyZip’s pricing page says they are free “with ads”, and that Pro gives an ad-free experience. Source | None |
| Platforms | Runs in a web browser; it works best in Chrome, with Edge and Opera also supported, while Firefox and Safari work for most tasks but may have limits with very large files. Pro adds desktop apps for Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and Mac (ARM64, macOS 11 or later). Source | Any current browser on a computer, tablet or phone; installable as an app |
| Formats | Extracts 350+ archive formats, including password-protected and split archives. It creates ZIP, 7Z, TAR, TAR.GZ, ISO, split ZIP, self-extracting and password-protected ZIP archives, converts RAR and 7Z to ZIP, and also converts images, audio, video and documents. Source | 202 file extensions in 17 editors, with 639 one-click conversions |

When ezyZip is the better choice
ezyZip is the better choice for RAR files and the other formats Anyfile does not open yet (it lists 350+ archive formats), for creating ISO, self-extracting and split archives, for repairing damaged archives and recovering lost passwords, and, with Pro, for desktop apps and no ads. Anyfile suits quick jobs where you want to preview, edit and convert many file types in one place, with no ads or account.
