You can open, view and edit 3DS files for free right here in your browser, without Blender and without uploading anything. The scene format of Autodesk 3D Studio for DOS, from 1990. It stores meshes, materials, lights and cameras, but each mesh is limited to 65,536 vertices.

Save as GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, 3MF, PLY, COLLADA, USDZ for AR on iPhone, or a picture. Opens 3D Studio meshes and their colours, standing them upright; textures in separate picture files can’t come along. Saved as GLB, OBJ, STL or another format.
